See the piglet in the photo here? That baby is only a few weeks old, and it is already fully able to run, and eat, even though it still nurses. Genetics is what determines the adult size of a pig, Pot Belly, Kune Kune, or any other variety.
Pig breeds, such as Pot Bellies, Kune Kunes, as well as several other "miniature" pig breeds are truly miniature when compared to the hogs you have been eating all your life.
Market Hogs, unless they are butchered for their meat, will easily grow to between 700 pounds to even half a ton. Miniature pigs, such as those many people keep as pets, are about ten to twenty percent that weight at maturity. An average size horse will weigh in between 900 and 1,300 pounds, depending on their breed and genetics.
Pigs have very dense muscles, and weigh a lot for their height. They are compact, yet rather rotund when compared with a dog of the same height.
Only very few miniature pigs only grow to possibly 50 pounds, and these are very few and far between. If you have one that stays somewhere in that size range, you could pretty well name you price, and people who want a small pig would beat a path to your door.
Some of these smaller miniatures have even been sold for five figures.
